These lovely, colorful kimonos in 100% silk are all created from sarees that were previously worn by women in India. Every year I go through tons of saris to find the most beautiful, most special fabrics to transform into garments for you to wear. The fabrics come from all over India and vary in weaving and printing techniques. Some are made of stronger silk that was worn in the north or in winter and others in feather-light silk that feels like a caress against the skin. What is fantastic about working with sarees is that they have a trim along the entire side that we place at the front in the collar and a so-called palu which is the final, extra worked piece that we place at the back for a breathtaking effect. They all have side pockets and a belt so you decide for yourself whether you want to wear your remade saree open or closed.
